Hey everyone, Kyle here! Recently the community has been growing and gaining more popularity and unfortunately, with all the growth and popularity we've gained there have been some baddies showing up within the community and trying to mess up all the fun we are having.
I've always wanted LGBTChat to be a safe place where our community members can come and have fun. Which is why we are taking more action to make sure our users stay safe.
In this post I will share some tips on how to keep safe online.
Safe Direct Messaging
By default, Discord and the LGBTChat server allows two people to direct message each other. Unfortunately some people are using this feature to send us stuff we don't want to see.
I recommend changing some settings in Discord
The image above shows the ability to turn on Safe Direct Messaging for your account User Settings > Privacy tab.
If you wish to disable direct messaging in our Minecraft server
/msgtoggle as there is no way to filter these messages.
As you should already be aware, sharing your personal information online is a big no no. Recently I've noticed our community members sharing their phone numbers etc. Remember that when playing online you can never be sure that the person you are talking to is who they say they are.
Sadly, there are people that try to steal our personal information via hyperlinks (links/URLs) please only click on links that you are familiar with or have "HTTPs".
We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
As always, we love hearing feedback on what we do here. Please share any feedback at #ticket channel on Discord.
